LGBT+ Pride Parade in São Paulo Honors the Fight for Rights and Advocates for Healthy Aging
At 65, Professor Roberto Santos has lost calculate of how many Lgbtq+ fest Parades he’s attended, and had even considered skipping this year. But he changed his mind when he found out the theme was "LGBT+ Aging: Memory, Resistance, and Future."
The theme resonated with everyone, from the young to those with white—dyed or natural—hair. The parade took over Paulista Avenue and Consolação Street in downtown São Paulo throughout Sunday afternoon (22).
Seventeen floats took part in the march. To reinforce this year’s theme, many prominently featured people over 60 in visible spots.
The parade began around noon, with a series of speeches from politicians aligned with LGBT+ causes. After singing the national anthem, the floats started moving through a sea of rainbow-colored fans.
Drag queen Ditinha Soares, 73, said the theme was "wonderful, because I’m a senior, so this pride is for me."
A recurring message: if younger generations can now walk the streets with less phobia, they owe a fantastic deal to those who came before them.

Chicago Pride Parade
Chicago's Identity festival celebration consists of a full month of festivities and events, culminating with the Chicago Event Parade, which traditionally takes place the last Sunday of June.
Chicago Pride Fest takes place along North Halsted St. in the North Side neighborhood colloquially referred to a ‘Boystown’ the weekend prior to the parade.
The Chicago Celebration Parade (June 29, 2025 11am)
The 54th annual Chicago Movement Parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from the corners of Sheridan and Broadway (3900 North) on Chicago's north side.
The parade treks through the north side of the municipality, ending near the intersection of Diversey Parkway and Sheridan Road in Lincoln Park, walking through some of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods.
The annual procession, which started as a protest parade in 1970 after the Stonewall Riots in New York City, has grown into the city's second-largest parade of nearly 200 entries, typically attracting more than 1 million people to multiple northside neighborhoods, particularly East Lakeview.
