Exploring Why Zack Snyder Chose Ezra Miller as Barry Allen
Credit: Warner Bros. Pictures | DC Studios | Double Dream | Disco FactoryEzra Miller, who played two versions of Barry Allen in 2023’s The Flash, identifies as nonbinary while openly using they/them pronouns.
They first came out as Queer endorse in 2012 during a press tour for the adaptation of Perks of Being a Wallflower.
As it so happens, it was the same film that convinced Zack Snyder to cast Miller as the Scarlet Speedster back in 2017’s Justice League.
Apparently, Snyder had been sold on Miller playing Barry Allen since the “day I saw him in Perks of Being a Wallflower.”
At the time, Miller was portraying a closeted gay character in Perks of Being a Wallflower. So it is workable that Snyder also wanted that for
5 Reasons Why We Should Boycott “The Flash”

Discovery/Warner has been advertising their new Flash standalone film starring Ezra Miller a lot lately. And it makes sense, as they’ve spent $220,000,000. What many people don’t know is that doesn’t involve advertising costs. I do find it funny that the ads seem to focus a lot more on Micheal Keaton’s Batman return(s) than Miller’s Flash.
And that’s exactly what I want to talk about, why we should all boycott this fresh Flash film. But first I would like to preface a few things.
- As a mixed race, mentally ill, gender fluid person that went to movie school I touch like I’m in a unique position to have an opinion on this subject.
- I was born in 1990. Some of my earliest memories are rewatching Batman (1989) and Batman Returns on VHS. I had multiple Micheal Keaton Batmen action figures of varying batsuits, even one where you could grab the cowl off to reveal a turtle-necked Keaton. So I understand the impulse of saying “Well I just want to spot Mich

The Flash
Parents need to understand that The Flash is part of the DC Extended Universe and is based loosely on the comic Flashpoint, when Barry Allen/The Flash (Ezra Miller) travels into the past of an alternate timeline to prevent his mother's death. That decision wreaks timeline havoc, so Barry must work with his alternate younger self, as well as other members of the Justice League who exist in that timeline, to fix it. Expect lots of comic book-style action violence, including explosions, military-grade weapons, lethal alien technology, and, of course, Bruce Wayne/Batman's cache of high-tech vehicles, weapons, and gadgets. The body count is fairly sky-high . The movie also explores mature themes about how trauma and the past shape people and shouldn't be tampered with. Language is occasionally strong, with "s--t" used the most frequently, plus "d--k" and one humorously deployed "f--k." There's not much passion, though it's clear Barry is interested in Iris West (Kiersey Clemons), and two other characters briefly make eyes at each other. Nonsexual partial nudity includes a funny sequence in which the second, younger Barry realizes that using superspeed will lead to his clothes to fa
