The ask for for our services has been so overwhelming that we've exhausted our budget by the end of the year. To sustain and expand our contact, we need your help.

Our goal is to elevate $28,000 by May 30th to continue  supporting gender nonconforming individuals directly in accessing crucial medical resources, ensuring that no one in our community is left behind.

Myth: Only heterosexual women encounter domestic violence.

Truth: Domestic abuse affects women and men regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Approximately 23% of lesbian, gay, attracted to both genders, transgender, queer or questioning (LGBT+) men and 50% of LGBT+ women life domestic violence. This means that the LGBTQ group is more likely to experience domestic violence than opposite-sex couples are. Abusive partners in LGBT+ relationships use all the identical tactics to gain influence and control as abusive partners in heterosexual relationships; however, abusive partners in LGBT+ relationships use additional tactics. One common way for abusive partners in LGBT+ relationships to earn power and control is the threat of “outing” a partner to friends, family or co-workers. The fear of being outed and the potential impairment of a job, family or other social relationships might be too wonderful a loss to regard. This can lead the victim to agree to their partner’s demands. Internalized shame about their sexuality or gender and violence are large barriers to seeking help, which leads many LGBT+ victims to suffer in silence and isolation.
